Shipping internationally is straightforward with Inex. Follow the steps below to ensure your shipment is set up correctly and clears customs without delays.
Step 1: Shipper Information
Enter your sender details. Use the address search bar, which will automatically format the address correctly and auto-populate the relevant fields for you.
Step 2: Recipient Information
Enter your recipient's details. Again, use the address search bar to ensure the address is formatted correctly and all fields are populated accurately.
Step 3: Package Details
Enter your package(s) type, weight, and dimensions.
Step 4: Shipping Options
Select any additional shipping preferences, such as:
-
- Signature required upon delivery
- Return label
- Tracking notifications for the shipment
Step 5: Billing Options
Choose how you'd like to bill the shipment — either to your account or a third-party account.
Step 6: View Quotes
Once all details are filled in, your carrier quotes will appear. You can sort options by price, value, or speed to find the best fit for your needs.
Step 7: International Options
Select your international shipping preferences. Here you can indicate:
- Whether the shipment contains documents only
- A duty account number, if applicable
- How you'd like to attach your customs documents
We strongly recommend selecting "I will upload my international documents on the platform" while also including physical copies of your customs documentation inside your package. Doing both significantly reduces the risk of your shipment being held at customs.
Step 8: Commodities
This is where you detail the contents of your international shipment. For each item, your commodity description should include:
- What the item is
- What it is made of
- What its purpose is
A clear and complete commodity description helps customs process your shipment quickly and accurately.
Tips
-
Use the address search bar. Always use the address search bar for both shipper and recipient to avoid formatting errors that could cause delivery issues.
-
Not ready to create your label just yet? Click "Save and Close" to save your shipment to Saved Quotes. All your information will be kept on standby so you can come back and create the label whenever you're ready.
-
Make sure your package weight and commodity weight match. Your total package weight and total commodity weight must be identical. The system does not account for the weight of your box or packaging — both values need to match. If they don't, the weight fields will appear in red, indicating the values need to be corrected before you can proceed.
